Salle de Musiques Actuelles, concert venue in Aix en Provence (13 – Bouches-du-Rhône)
This tender, won with the architectural team of Rudy Ricciotti and Jean-Michel Battesti, was to design and build a cultural facility to support the development of contemporary music, comprising:
- A large hall with standing room for 1,50
- A club room with standing room for 400
- An artists’ area with 6 dressing rooms, a catering service for 80 people and a production office
- An administrative centre
I led the Design/Construction tender phase for this large-scale project. The building, with its atypical architecture, is clad with sprayed concrete, giving the appearance of a rocky outcrop. The challenge was to develop an innovative and cost-effective technique to create the facade cladding.
